Available • Transformed Mid Century Tall Boy with Custom Digital Artwork - G Plan Librenza

This late-1950s G Plan Librenza tall boy / chest of seven drawers was rescued from landfill, restored and transformed into a functional and beautiful piece of art.
The drawer fronts feature custom designed original artwork - printed onto hard-wearing laminated vinyl.
The shell (including the back) and base has been sprayed with a smooth exterior-grade matt black finish.
The insides of the drawers were also sprayed matt black, and the drawers' base boards were coated in a semi-translucent orange gloss.
The brass handles and toes were soaked in acid, cleaned and polished, and all four brass caps above each leg were replaced with new.
It's worth noting that this sixty-plus year old piece arrived in a very poor, neglected state (check out my Instagram @remaderetro for the before and after). It had been badly painted with white emulsion throughout, which was painstakingly stripped away. Cracks were repaired and numerous veneer chips and scratches were filled.
Although it has been a labour of love, the drawers remain a little stiff compared to what you would expect from a modern piece of furniture. Therefore this has been reflected in the price.

Available • Restyled Dressing Table / Writing Desk in Pressed Fern, Pink and Tola - G Plan Librenza

A restored and restyled G Plan Librenza dressing table / writing desk which originally dates back to the late 1950s / early 1960s.
The main shell (including the back and underneath) has been refinished in “Pressed Fern” - a beautiful dark green. This exterior-grade acrylic-based paint was applied using an HVLP spray system - leaving a flawless matt finish.
The drawer fronts and dovetails were carefully sanded and given a generous coat of Osmo Polyx hard wax oil.
The legs and the inside of the top drawer have been painted bright pink, which subtly complements the dark green and tola wood.
All brassware including the handles and adjustable toes were soaked in acid, cleaned and polished.

A refurbished mid-century Nathan / Parker Knoll sideboard in “ash” (a lovely charcoal grey) with bright gold art deco-inspired corner motifs, electroplate gold hairpin legs and knurled drawer knobs.
The exterior has been professionally sprayed with highly durable mineral paint, leaving a flawless, ultra-smooth matt finish.
The drawers have been re-lined with an amber / mustard-coloured felt.
Further attention to detail can be found on the reverse side of each door, where the paint job complements the woodwork. The inside of the doors section has been polished and beautifully preserved.
The original base / plinth was carefully removed (precision cut using a track saw) and some additional support was added by inserting screws underneath using a pocket hole jig.

A restyled 1970s G Plan Fresco chest of four drawers with detachable mirror.
The drawer fronts have been professionally sprayed with a durable matt acrylic paint. A custom colour mix was created for each drawer, which starts with reddish-orange at the base moving upwards towards a very light salmon-pink at the top.
The shell and mirror frame has been refinished with a glossy black exterior-grade coating.
The original plinth was carefully removed and tapered wooden legs were added.
The mirror can be tilted to height requirement or removed entirely if to be used solely as a chest of drawers.

Complemented by black wooden trims, each drawer recess features an original and unique piece of glitch artwork, printed onto hard-wearing vinyl.
The art itself was created through an unusual process that involves circuit-bent analog video processing hardware and old CRT televisions. The combination of this type of one-off, near-impossible to re-create art with furniture up-cycling is almost certainly a world first.
